Good for NBA Commissioner David Stern, for suspending for the rest of the season, both Gilbert Arenas, and Javaris Crittenton.  It’s difficult too imagine that he had any choice. Stern had to send a strong message, that weapons violations can not be tolerated under any circumstances. It’s still hard to believe, whether its the two Wizards players, or Plaxico Burress of the New York Giants, the foolish decisions made by these very wealthy athletes. It just doesn’t make sense, that millionaires like these men, can’t find or afford private security. I just cant imagine why they wouldn’t do the easy thing, and hire professional security staff, instead of risking themselves, and perhaps the lives or well being of others. I wonder, aside from personal security, what the thrill is in having a gun ?  It’s difficult to figure out where celebrities would go to socialize, especially if they might feel threatened by an individual, or groups of people. How about doing the right thing, and not going to places, where their tends to be danger. It seems that it’s just to easy to do what is smart. Who knows, perhaps it’s a macho thing, where individuals just feel better about themselves because they have these guns, and they feel entirely in control of their lives, and to a degree, the lives of anyone who is near-by.

There is more and more speculation all the time, as to what the Philadelphia Eagles will do about their quarterback situation. Will they trade Michael Vick, or will they try and package veteran Donovan McNabb. It wont really matter who the quarterback is in that city, if the team philosophy remains one of just getting by  with average talent in terms of their running backs. Other than the injury prone Brian Westbrook, there isn’t anyone who scares opposing defenses. The logic of the Eagles is hard to figure out. They seem to want Donovan McNabb to throw most of the time, and every opposing defense in the NFL knows this. Guess what ? It makes a quarterback’s job extremely difficult, when defenders know exactly what options the quarterback has. The fans in Philly may  think they’re better off without  McNabb, but they’ll learn very quickly, that no quarterback will advance the cause of the Eagles, until they create balance in their offense, between the running and passing games. If they are stupid enough to move McNabb, the Eagles will drop like a concrete block, because the next quarterback will face the same problems, that the multiple time Pro Bowler has tried to overcome. Only the Colts have been in the postseason more often than the Eagles have over the last decade,so with that in mind, the silly Philly fans better get a reality check, and realize they wont be getting anyone better, and the man behind the center right now, while not the best in the NFL, is still pretty good.
