I don’t often write about events that are not sports related, however, after the violence in Toronto on Saturday, carried out by a relatively small number of gutless cowards, I felt compelled to address this issue. The scum who were wearing black scarves while breaking windows, burning police vehicles, and destroying private property, were abusing the rights of free speech and peaceful demonstration, to show how “tough” they were. Instead of making a legitimate point pertaining to the G-8 and G-20 Summit, these losers decided to illustrate their values and sense of responsibilities, which are obviously non existent. Thousands of Canadians have fought and died at war, to maintain our freedom and privileges.
It really is a shame that the police do not have the right to beat the stuffing out of these losers, right there on the spot. Unfortunately, it’s likely that the only response these criminals understand and respect, is a fist or a something even more violent than that. What is needed wherever these summits are held, are special police powers, to deal with these thugs. Some form of martial law should be instituted,so that those who are only interested in violence and destroying private property, can be severely punished on the spot, either with a club,or if necessary, with a gun. Those who can’t respect democratic freedoms, should not benefit from democratic privileges.
There is way too much concern these days for the rights of the lawbreakers, as opposed to those who abide by the law. The vast majority of the public, was sickened by what they saw this past weekend. Enough already with political correctness. Let the home grown terrorists, take their anarchy to a prison cell for twenty years.
A friend of mine who grew up in Serbia when it was under communist rule, told me a few years ago, that as restrictive as communism could be, at least they could keep their doors unlocked at night. My friend explained, that the would be violent types at the time knew, that if they were caught by the police while engaged in criminal behavior, they would be beaten. It seems that the anarchists need to have some sense of consequences, that go along with criminality. The communists were wrong about a lot of things, but it seems they got it right when it came to criminal deterrence. What kind of deterrence did the violent thugs in Toronto have this past weekend ? Obviously, not very much.
