On Saturday night August 28, the UFC made its first trip to Massachusetts. Boston to be
exact.for UFC 118 @ the TD Bank Garden.Homeof the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins.Tom
Brady and Shaq were in attendance.
UFC 118 Card:
Marcus Davis VS. Nate Diaz:
Round 1: Left handed stance by both fighters.Even round.Both men are bloodied.Maybe Diaz
work harder at the end of the round.
Round 2: Davis Right eye is horrible, bleeding like crazy.Differently Nate Diaz's round.
Round 3: After the first round it was all Nate Diaz.The bloodied right eye of Marcus Davis was a
factor. Nate Diaz wins by submission.
Winner: Nate Diaz @ 4:02 of round 3 via submission guilltine choke
Gray Maynard VS. Kenny Florian:
Round 1: Even round.Maynard probably for being more busy by round's end.
Round 2: Exactly like the first round Gray Maynard get's the take down and works over Kenny
Florian.Kenny left eye is bloodied.Another round to Gray Maynard.More dominating than the
first round.
Round 3: Gray Maynard wrestling is and was to much for Kenny to handle.Disappointing night
for Boston own Kenny Florian.
Winner: Gray Maynard by unanimous decision: Judges score it ( 30-27,30-27 amd 29-28)
Mario Miranda VS. Demian Maia:
Round 1: Maia tried for a submission early but was unsuccessful.Demian Maia round's more busy.
Round 2: Dominating round for Demian Maia.Total control.Awesome ground and pound.
Round 3: Same round as in round 2
Winner: Demian Maia by unanimous decision: Judges score it ( 30-27,30-27 and 30-27)
Randy Couture vs. James Toney: Co Main Event:
Round 1: Total Randy Couture domination.Randy Couture turned the lights out James Toney
via submission (arm-triangle choke).
Winner: Randy Couture via submission (arm-triangle choke) Tap out @ 3:19 of round 1
UFC 118 Main Event: BJ Penn VS. Frankie Edgar: UFC lightweight Championship:
Round 1: Frankie Edgar took BJ down twice and i can not believe i am saying this but was way
faster than BJ.
Round 2: Even round.Edgar took BJ down again.2-0 in favor of rounds for Frankie Edgar.
Round 3: 3 rounds in and BJ Penn has down absolutely nothing.He may have thrown one good
shot in the fight.BJ was hammered in this round.
Round 4: BJ gets a take down.Frankie is bleeding from his nose.Frankie gets another take
down.Ground and pound by Frankie.Huge shots.
Round 5 Final Round: BJ gets a take down early.BJ Penn was totality humiliated for five
rounds.UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Winner: Frankie Edgar by unanimous decision: All Judges score it 50-45
